LIFESIZE ANTIQUE BABY CHICKEN CANDY CONTAINER & TINY ANTIQUE TOY BABY CHICKEN

These two antique baby chickens are both adorable, and have been companions for many years.

I couldn\'t bring myself to separate them at their advanced age so they are being sold as a pair.

The nicest of the two is of course, the larger baby chicken. He\'s absolutely delightful, extremely sweet, and the same size as a real baby chicken, measuring

approximately 14 centimetres (5 1/2 inches) in length from the tip of his beak to the end of his tail
and
approximately 11 centimetres (4 1/4 inches) in height from floor to top of his head (highest point)
and
approximately 8 centimetres (3 1/4 inches) from floor to the top of his back.

To the best of my knowledge he is probably of German origin, dating from circa 1900.

His head and body are made of papier-mâché and cardboard, covered with beautifully soft yellow long fur of some sort.

His fur retains very nice colour and has no sparse or thin patches. It\'s very clean, soft and has no musty or unpleasant odours of any sort.

He has original brown glass eyes in very good condition. His feet and legs are made of painted metal - there is some paint loss, as can be seen in the photos. He\'s also missing part of one of his claws on his left foot, but this doesn\'t affect his balance and he can still stand up easily without any support. His painted yellow beak is made from papier-mâché and retains very good original colour.

His head unscrews (see photo), and his body is hollow, and would have originally been filled with sweets, or treats.

He nestles in the palm of your hand and is very lifelike. He has a delightful face and is an enchanting and very loveable character with a great deal of charm.

His tiny companion is also antique, and also probably of German origin, circa 1900s. He is just a miniature toy baby chicken, not a candy container. He\'s a very pretty little character, measuring

approximately 6.5 centimetres (2 1/2 inches) in length from the tip of his beak to the end of his tail (longest point)
and
7 centimetres (2 3/4 inches) in height from the floor to the top of his head
and
4.5 centimetres (1 3/4 inches) in length from the floor to the top of his back

His head and body are also made of papier-mâché and covered with beautifully soft yellow fur or some sort. He\'s a brighter shade of yellow than his companion, and his fur is extremely clean, has no loss or thinning, and no musty or unpleasant odours of any sort.

His brown glass eyes are original and his painted yellow papier-mâché beak retains very good original colour.

He has painted metal feet and legs, again, there is a little paint loss due to age, but his feet/claws are complete/intact and undamaged.

He can also stand up easily without any support and is a delightful little character.

The larger baby chicken is the nicest antique candy container I have ever come across,
everyone who see\'s him falls in love.

They both have a great deal of gentle charm and display beautifully, never failing to attract attention.

They would be wonderful companions for an antique bear or doll,

or a would be a wonderful addition to an antique toy collection.
