Questions and Answers, opening briefly the meaning of every severall Booke and Chapter of the Bible
From the beginning of Genesis to the end of the Revelation
Now newly corrected and augmented.LONDON: Published by Printed by Robert Young. 1633 (Published date 1633). Thick 8vo. 7.0" x 5" Inches (LxB). Pp. 86 pages. Bound with above. In this work, Robert Harris, 17th century Puritan preacher and President of Trinity College, Oxford, lays down not only the essence of true happiness, but how it is to be obtained. The Way to True Happinesse, leading to the Gate of Knowledge or An Entrance to Faith without which it is impossible to please God by Questions and Answers, opening briefly the meaning of every severall Booke and Chapter of the Bible. From the beginning of Genesis to the end of the Revelation. Now newly corrected and augmented.
The Author Robert Harris was born in Broad Campden, Gloucestershire, in 1581. At the age of 15 he matriculated at Magdalen College, Oxford, where he studied under Mr. Goffe, a fine logician and a Puritan. Harris received his B.A. in 1600 and, in spite of his father's desire that he become a lawyer, pursued the ministry. He replaced the famous Mohn Dod, who had been silenced for non-conformity by the Archbishop of Canterbury, at Hamwell. By the 1620's, Robert Harris' preaching had become something of a legend in its own right, and Harris was in wide demand as a visiting preacher. In 1642 he joined the Westminster Assembly, and in 1645 became one of seven men nominated to frame the Confession of Faith. In 1648, Harris assumed the presidency of Trinity College. He died on December 11, 1658, and is buried in the graveyard of that college.

Christopher Barker was an outstanding figure in the printing trade toward the end of the sixteenth century, a wealthy member of the Drapre's Company and a shrewd business man who managed to acquire the most lucrative of all patents for a man with sufficient capital to exploit it - namely the Bible patent. He became a publisher around 1569 and took his device the Tiger's head, badge of the Walsingham family, with which he was closely connected. Although in August 1577 Christopher Barker had been one of the stationers who signed the petition against privileges (see Landsdowne, MS, 48) this did not prevent him from obtaining a patent (Patent Roll, 19El12, Pat. 8) which granted him the office of Royal printer of all statutes, books, bills, Acts of Parliament, proclamations, injunctions, Bibles, and New Testaments... Also of all service books to be used in churches, and all other volumes ordered to be printed by the Queen or Parliament. He had already shown his business acumen in obtaining a privledge for printing the Geneva Bible, of which he and his assigns and deputies had brought out more than fifty editions between 1576 and 1600. ...it is doubtful if he was ever a working printer, any more than was Christopher Barker. They held their patents by purchase and were employers of labour to exploit that patent. Christopher Barker, the Queen's Printer, had the Bible, the book of Common Prayer, Acts of Parliament and Royal Proclamations.
