A very fine large early Northwest Coast Tlingit Indian twined basket dating from the late 1800\'s. This is one of group of baskets we acquired that were de-accessioned from the Burke Museum in Seattle. This very finely woven ( approx 30/stitches per inch) basket is woven from split spruce root and the complex stunning false imbricated designs from natural and dyed bear grasses in red,and cream . The design features multiple rolling log designs a native symbol of good luck . The design disappeared from use after world war 2. This large basket measures 10 3/4\" in diameter and stands 8 3/4\" tall and is in \"as is \" condition with multiple museum stitch repairs throughout as seen in the pictures .This museum quality basket displays beautifully and is worthy of the finest collections.Please add $10.95 for careful shipping and insurance (USA), we\'ll be happy to combine shipping if feasible.
