Model Revelation Description Up for sale is a really fine example of one of the finer vintage trumpets you’ll find! This horn was made in 1929!! (85 years old!!!) The early Holton Revelation trumpets are said to have inspired some of the more well received trumpets of all time, introduced in the 1940’s and 1950’s! More specifically, the Martin Committee. In the early days of Holton, the company boasted some of the more reputable musicians in the industry, including the likes of Paul Whiteman’s famous dance band. (Frankie Trumbauer, Bix Beiderbecke, Jack Teagarden, to name a few) And what else is important to mention are the craftspeople that worked at the factory in these early days. For example Renold Schilke and E. Couturier. The instrument you are looking here is a very fine specimen, and plays very well!! Condition This trombone is in excellent condition. The instrument is free of any large dents, and the solder joints are all intact. The slides are all free and smooth. The original hard case is also in superb condition.
How Does It Play?:
This horn has a great sound! It sounds very fat and meaty. The horn responds very well, and it is very flexible. History Back in 1929 when this instrument was manufactured, Holton was one of the leading manufactures or woodwind and brass instruments in the industry. Some of the heaviest musicians and ensembles of the time endorsed and played on Holton instruments, including the famous musicians of the Paul Whiteman Orchestra. The Holton instruments were really on the forefront of the industry, and instruments like this Holton Revelation trumpet are said to have foreshadowed other great American made instruments like the Martin Committee trumpet. Specifications This trombone is considered a Revelation Model. It has a Medium bore, (.516\"). The one piece hand hammered bell has a 7\" bell, and beautiful silver plating.
