Vintage Black Forest 8 day ContemporaryHubert Herr Owl & Bird Cuckoo clock

Vintage Hubert Herr Contemporary log style wooden owl and cuckoo bird cuckoo clock from Germany. It is 20inches tall 5 ½ inches wide by 6inches deep with a 3 inch time ring. Hubert Herr began hisclock making career around 1898 as a carver who was unique in that he also madehis own movements. Later, he hired others to join him in establishing a cuckooclock manufacturing works in Triberg (Black Forest) Germany. This example ofhis work bears his name stamped into the brass plate of the movement(indicating pride of workmanship---many cuckoo clock makers omitted theirname). The movement is marked HERBERT HERR TRIBERG, GERMANY AND UNADJUSTED ANDNO JEWELS. This is a Contemporary 8day unique log style Cuckoo clock with a cuckoobird on the top left and an owl on the bottom right. Both of the birds haveglass eyes. There is a small split in the wood on the top it looks like theglue came loose.

HerrClocks are specialized in manufacturing Original Black-Forest Cuckoo clockswith one special difference: Herr is the only factory making the movements,cases and carvings by themselves in house the company. All clocks are made ofsolid Linden wood and Pine and are guaranteed hand-carved. Starting in a smallworkshop and now in its 5th generation, the company grew to a world known andleading manufacturer of quality cuckoo clocks.

Theclock has been running and keeping very good time.
