In the late 1960’s the Draper Family and Gil Hibben werefamous for making an unusual hunting knife designed by the legendary gun writerElmer Keith. This knife was custom made by Bart Draper sometime in the late1980’s to early 1990’s to illustrate the style in an article in Blade magazine.The 440C stainless blade is 5 inches long and 3 3/8-inch thick. The handle iswhite paper Micarta with brass mounts. There is a hair line crack on the spineof the grip that first showed up as the maker assembled the knife. Given it didnot show up in the magazine photos, it was decided to ignore the flaw. All ofthese Draper Keith hunters are rare but the Bart Draper models are rarer still.The knife has seen very little use over the years and is still in veryexcellent condition.
