Presentedfor your offerding is a UniqueVintageCustom Made Orvis 11’ 3-piece Bamboo Fly Fishing/Spey Rod. Thisrod was used by my Dad on summer salmon fishing excursions to Nova Scotia in the 1960’s and 1970’s. I believe that my father made this rod in theearly 1960’s, at the time he was teaching fly tying and rod building in adultevening school in the Johnstown (PA) School District. He was a perfectionist and thus an excellentrod builder. This rod’s 3 pieces weigh9.5 oz. while the spey extension adds another 2.8 oz. These 22-14 blanks were sold by Orvis in the1958 to 1963 time frame as told to me in a phone conversation with an Orvis FlyFishing employee who spent some time going through copies of hand writtenledgers. The rod comes with an extra tipsection, a special four-section rod sack with spey butt storage,and brass/aluminum tube. The line weight of GBG and GAF are respectively #8 Double Taperand #9 Weight Forward. My Dad added his name and address on the butt section bythe rod’s specifications.
