Up for sale is an antiqueDetecto hanging scale from the early 1900\'s. Detecto Scale Company was started in 1900 in New York City by three immigrant brothersby the name ofJacobs who started out in the butcher supply business. This scale is rare in that it only goes to 5 pounds. Probably hung in some corner grocery or general store and was last weight certified in 1966.

The scale bezel has an art deco style chrome case with large double sided face. One face is covered with glass and the other face is not (any glass shop could cut a new one). It has easy to read bold numbers and large needle. The bezel case is 15 inches in diameter! This is a very early Detecto scalewith the large, white porcelain pan that canbe decorated with limitless ideas. This super charming piece comes with a 30 inch chain link so you can adjust the height.
