Vintage gunning box from the Dennis Edwards estate collection. Dennis collected decoys and hunting collectibles starting after WWII. He bought throughout the Midwest, especially mid-Wisconsin, and this shell box is from that era and area. It is one of his better collectibles. You can see how this box was in the weather, where the paint has been baked in the sun and rain and got pitted. It is the old duck boat green paint, and has some knicks and wear. Two flap doors lift up, giving quick access to two compartments. What makes this shell box stand out from other boxes are the two wooden flying drake redheads on each end. They do resemblance the work of Gus Moak. Maybe an old-time custom order, as it is nicely made. Truly a gem to be added to one\'s collection, as it is in good condition as the photos show.
