Vintage H.N. White King Trombone, Large Bore
Price: US $475.00
Vintage H.N. White King trombone circa 1918 in exceptional condition. Silver plated, satin finish, gold wash bell, 7.5\" bell, complete with high and low pitch tuning slides, H.N. White Equa-Tru #28 mouthpiece and original case. Elaborate bell engraving reads \"King, Made by the H.N. White Co. Cleveland, Ohio\". Serial #40,3xx stamped on bell section, both tuning slides, inner hand slide and outer hand slide. Hand slide stamped with lion head, etc. and \"Large Bore\". I attempted to measure the bore and it is extremely close to the bottom tube of my 2B, which would make it about .490. I was pleased to find a vintage horn with a bore that I could actually use!
This horn appears to have been used very little due to the minimal wear at hand contact points and of the inner slide. The finish is beautiful. The gold wash is complete. The imperfections are a dent in the curved hand slide brace, a slight dent in the bell to the left of the engraving, missing finish by a re-soldered bell brace and wear at contact points (all shown in pictures). The slide feels straight with no binding points but feels like it needs a good cleaning and polishing. Again, the inner slide is in great shape. Even the mouthpiece has most of the plating intact. The usual dent-prone crooks are beautiful as well. The case appears original. All the latches work but no key.
This horn is far better than any comparable I can find.
