Up for sale is a good and very early Glasseye DrakeMallard made by the Mason factory of Detroit, Michigan, ca. 1900. Note the early protruding breast and slightlyuplifted head position. It has a lot of originalpaint, with speculums that have been strengthened and touch-ups to the back,tail, back of the head and breast. Thereis a small area of touch-up to the right front edge of the bill where there hasbeen a small repair made. The neckfiller has been replaced with touch-up in that area as well. This 120-year old decoy does show wear fromuse with rubs to the bill, top of the head and tail. There is some paint loss to the bodyparticularly on the white areas. Thereis a small, tight age check running on the right side of the head as well as afilled check on the left side of the back.The breast scalloping paint is still very strong.
