This is a lovely vintageStratton of London ladies powder compact which dates to around the 1950\'s, measures 3 1/4 inches in diameter, and comes with its slippouch and original paperlabels. The compact is made of a gold tone metaland the base has anmachine turned circular pattern. The top of the compact has a iridescent dark blue enamel background colour with ascene of the two principal dancers from the Ballet Les Syphides. The scene is from a painting called \"Rapture\" by the well-know American artistCecil Golding and shows the world famous ballerina Anna Pavlova and her partner. The hinges and catches are firm and secure and the compact opens to reveal a clear and reflective mirror under the lid with original label still in placeThe hinged powder well door is marked with theStratton name and logo and this opens to access the powder well beneath.The condition of the compact is very good and it appears never to have been used. There are no splits, cracks, dents \"dings\" damage or repairs to be found and all catches and hinges are in good working order.For accuracy in my description I will point out a couple of very tiny surface scratches to thetop of the compact which you need an eye glass to see but nothing too serious or detracts in any way. This lovely vintage Stratton compact, with the top depicting the ballerina Anna Pavlova by Cecil Golding, would make an ideal gift or a great addition to any collection.
