\'We are passionate about providing the best’ VINTAGE ~ The Wallace Trombone - Williams and Wallace, Los Angeles, CA - Serial Number #176 - \".491 Bore\" - ALL ORIGINAL! Model The Wallace Trombone Description The Wallace Trombone are some of the most sought after Trombones on the market. Handmade by Earl Williams, one of the best trombone makers to have ever lived. As with many early 20th century trombones, the tuning mechanism of this horn is located in the hand slide. Though this adds weight to the slide, the tuning adjustment is easy by simply turning an adjustment nut near the hand brace. This system has several benefits: the player\'s air stream does not come into contact with the tuning mechanism and the gap where the adjustment is made, the bell section is completely conical with a mathematically correct taper, and the weight is concentrated at the hand braces, thus increasing projection. B.A.C. Custom (Ourmanufacturingplant) actually owns the lathe previous owned by Williams and Wallace, that the bell of this instrument was turned on! Condition This trombone looks to be made of mostly brass with nickel plated nickel silver inside slide tubes. The slide bore is about \".490\", and the bell diameter is 7\". It has its original gold lacquer. The nickel plating on the inside slide tubes is also worn, resulting in a little slide noise, though the action is good. History Earl Williams and John Wallace started making instruments in 1936 in LA. Williams had previously worked for Holton and Olds. The Wallace trombone was introduced in 1939. The number of horns made per year was approx 50. After Williams died, the company was sold and moved to Donelson, TN Specifications Gold lacquered body, hand engraved, \".490\" bore, 7\" bell. Nickel plated slide tubes. \"W\" engraved balance weight Conclusion With only 50 produced each year, and the quality and performance of these horns, any collector or performer knows the value of The Wallace Trombone. Don\'t pass up this rare opportunity to own one of THE MOST SOUGHT OUT trombones on the market. Handmade by the legendary Earl Williams. A Special letter from our President and Founder: Thank you so much for taking the time to view our sale. My staff and I take great pride in what we do. Over the years this industry has changed drastically. Mom and Pop shops are nearly a thing of the past, and with that our industry bleeds. We are striving to preserve the character of a true American pastime. I started my shop in the basement of my house back in 2004 with a vision that no matter what the odds, I would be able to provide musicians and families around the world with the same care and attention that seems to be disappearing. There is no reason that because you are purchasing an item on the internet that the store you are working with shouldn\'t treat you with the same respect as if you live in our neighborhood and walked in our door. I am proud to say that my staff also believes in offering this positive one-on-one experience. We are blessed to have grown into the company we are today. We are all passionate about what we do. It is important for you to know that each and every customer we deal with is very important to keeping my mission a reality. We are here to help and offer our expertise to make your experience the best we possibly can. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask us!!
