Vintage WINDUP SCHUCO CHARLIE CHAPLIN Working COMPLETE ALL Original 1920 Scarce

Using real wool glued to what appears to be a gesso or composition face, shaving the face part close and leaving the hair part longer, Schuco has been able tomanufactured the finest facial likeness to Charlie Chaplin compared to other toys you have seen. Thiswas a limited run, and a difficult,detailed toy to make. The face and hair appear to be one piece of lambs wool that was trimmedaround the features. Somedo say Schuco used flocking, not wool, in all fairness to the description.

The wool is trimmed to give the impression of wrinkles behind the ears. The flesh color is perfect. The toy is hand assembled and hand painted. His tie, shirt and jacket are immaculate, notdirty. The clothing is attached to a tin and paper torso.He has tin arms and legs.

The mechanism works perfectly. The cane is original. The movement, if you are familiar with this type of mechanism is awesome in strikingly portraying Chaplin's walk, swinging the cane 360 degrees. His perfect tin hand is wrapped around the cane. His left felt hand is perfect felt material Please check the close up pictures. Made in 1920's, he's about 97 years old, near antique on his 100th birthday.
