1B6 Toastmaster Toaster 1937 HTF

McGraw Electric Company marketed a special Toastmaster Hostess Hospitality Set on an annual basis. From the set featured in the November 1937 issue of the Gift and Art Buyer comes thisis this very hard-to-find Model 1B6 Toastmaster Toaster with a specially-designed Wendell August Forge completely hand made case/cover of hand-hammered aluminum embellished with the repoussé Wheat motif. The toaster has Serial Number 933090, overall dimensions of about 10-1/4” wide by 6” deep and 7” high, and appears to have had little use.

The two-slice automatic pop-up toaster is all original and all in excellent condition, including the plug, cloth cord, and black Bakelite base, handles and lever, and darkness control knob. Although the toaster is clean, operational, and in good working condition when tested, a complete servicing prior to routine or heavy use is suggested. There is no visible Wendell August Forge trademark handstamp on this piece; there is no suitable location in which to place one. History: Wendell August Forge is America’s oldest and largest forge, producing hand-wrought ornamental metalware and elegant giftware in aluminum and other metals since 1923. The company was founded in Brockway, Pennsylvania. In 1930, a commission to create decorative aluminum gates and elevator doors for the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA) led to a focus in the production of hammered aluminum giftware. The historic facility was destroyed by fire in 2010 but the company is still “forging” on.

Interesting Tidbit: Wendell August Forge ashtrays were used on the Hindenburg.

NWT might mean a partial tag, content tag or button envelope but it means the item is unworn.

I leave my buyers response immediately upon payment, as you have thus fulfilled your side of the contract. Please let me know any concerns you may have before leaving me less than 5-star response.

I cannot mark items as gifts or below their value – the government frowns on this behavior. Packages are now shipped by size, weight and ZONE, packages over 12” on any side may now be considered oversized by USPS and have a surcharge. I have no control over this. I try to keep the cost of shipping as low as possible. Please note that first class mail applies only to packages under 1 pound.

On most items there will be a tracking number. Lastly, I always ship same or next day unless I tell you otherwise, so any delays in receiving your item are not mine...

RETURNS: You MUST contact me before returning an item sent via UPS, as it is not necessary in most cases and in fact may invalidate any claim.
