Currentlyavailableis this 101st Airborne Division Medical Officer\'s Service Dress Uniform jacket. This jacket belonged to a doctor who was in the 326th Medical Co. (Abn), seeing action at Normandy (he was originally supposed to go in by glider on a later drop but would wind up going in by ship on June 8th), glidered in for Operation Market Garden setting up and operating at an aid station nearNijmegen, Holland, Bastogne, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge and with the division during the rest of the war and treating concentration camp survivors. He would stay in making a career of the Army, working in a hospital in Japan during the Korean War, in Okinawa during the Vietnam War (where my late father first met him) finally retiring in 1975. This four pocket service dress coat is part of the officer\'s \"pinks and greens\" winter uniform made from OD #7 wool elastique in a size 38 Long with a 38\" (96.5 cm) chest, 19\" (48.2 cm) sleeve length and 35\" (88.9 cm) overall length with a four button front, belted waist and officer\'s braid on the cuffs. This coat has a 101st Airborne Division patch on the left sleeve, medical officer\'s insignia on the collars, Captain\'s rank on theepaulettes, a unit citation ribbon over the right pocket, with several ribbons including an armycommendation, American Campaign, national defense, European theater, World War Two victory and an occupation ribbons above the left pocket with a Combat Medical badge and Glider wings.
