Please Note: This jump jacket is a post-war reproduction that was purchased by WWII Paratrooper Anacleto Leone to wear in parades and press photos, as pictured above in the news photo. However, Mr. Leone took his Original, WWII period 501st PIR "Apaches" & 502nd PIR pocket patches out of his scrapbook and sewed them on.So, again, this is a repro jump jacket, but it was owned and worn by the WWII hero and has his Original, WWII period pocket patches hand-sewn on.
This wonderful piece has aGreat, Vintage design,with belt, embroidered 101st Airborne Division patch & American Flag, is marked "Chattahoochee", ID'd "Anacleto Leone" in his own handwriting, includes the Original receipt showing that it was sold to Leone and is Rare to Find. This comes from the personal collection of Paratrooper Anacleto Leone.
Anacleto "Cleto" Leonewas a combat Medic in the 101st Airborne Division, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, Easy Company, the outfit featured in the movie "Band of Brothers". Leone jumped into Europe at Normandy on D-Day and into Holland in Operation Market Garden, and was awarded a Bronze Star by General Dwight D. Eisenhower himself for his actions at Bastogne during the Battle of The Bulge.
This is a markedSize Large, but actually measures approx. 22" from armpit to armpit and 32" from top to bottom.This appears to be in Very Nice, Crisp condition.#1278 - 3.5Payment is expected within 7 days of purchase.
