Yonezawa - Mechanical Moon Space Robot aka Ribbonhead Robby made in Japan
Made in the early sixties ( 1961 ) by Yonezawa in Japan. This windup Moon Robot is better known as Ribbonhead Robby. The robot is made completely out of tin with a plastic dome. The robot is driven by a strong clockwork mechanism with sprakling action and some strange action in his head. Three colored \" things \" are rotating and give the head a sort of kaleidoscope effect.
This Robot drew my attention because it had a clear dome instead of a regular pink one. The dome for this robot is 100 % original so its clear that this robot was made with both a clear as well as a pink dome. Rare variation in the dome for sure.
The condition of this hard to find robot is excellent. the dome is original and complete, no cracks. The original screws for the dome are present. The ears and hands are original as well. The robot is in played with condition and the windup mechanismis worn out. The mechanism slips and needs attention. Therefore I will sell this robot as not working. I will leave repair to the new owner.Further the robot is really in fantastic condition and will be a nice addition to any high end robot collection. I will sell this robot in a real sale with a low startingprice and !!
