TOTAL ACCESS 900e Series
Overview
The Total Access® 900e Series of marketleading IP Business Gateways for Ethernetand multi-T1 applications from Adtran® aredesigned for carrier Ethernet and SIP/MGCPVoice over IP (VoIP) networks. These productsfeature all the same robust routing and voicefeatures of the previous generation IPBGs,along with a host of new features and functionsthat enable cost effective, reliable IP servicedelivery. These devices use the Adtran OperatingSystem (AOS) to simplify management andadministration. Multiple models offer flexibilityfor varied applications from PRI delivery and SIPtrunking services to Hosted IP PBX offerings.The Total Access 900e Series offers up to 24FXS ports for analog voice delivery, and threeEthernet interfaces (one Gigabit and two Fast)for access to the Total Access 900e’s router orWAN/LAN access. The Total Access 900e Seriescan be coupled with a NetVanta® Power overEthernet (PoE) switch to provide connectivityto a variety of network devices and personalcomputers, as well as to power IP phones andWireless Access Points (WAPs).
VoIP Gateway
The Total Access 900 Series uses SIP or MGCPfor VoIP applications, providing interoperabilitywith industry-leading softswitches, featureservers, and gateways. Acting as a gateway,the Total Access 900e converts IP signalingfrom the carrier into traditional TDM analogand digital voice services. s. This functionalityallows the Total Access 900e Series to delivervoice services to both IP phones and traditionaltelephony equipment simultaneously. Forcustomers implementing a hosted PBX or IPCentrex service, the Total Access 900e Series isideal for providing customers additional analogports necessary to support their remaininganalog phones, fax machines, or modems. TheTotal Access 900e Series supports many popularcalling features such as caller ID, call hold, forward,transfer, and call waiting. Voice ActivityDetection (VAD) and silence suppression aresupported to ensure reliable VoIP call quality.
Enterprise Session Border Control (eSBC)
The Total Access 900e also can provide eSBCfunctionality delivering a truly convergedapplication platform at the customer premises.This feature is becoming mandatory in today’sservice deployment to normalize, secure andtroubleshoot the SIP to SIP communicationbetween a carrier network and the customer’sSIP compliant equipment.
Remote Survivability
In addition, the Total Access 900e Series canact as a registrar and Back-to-Back User Agent(B2BUA) or as a SIP-transparent proxy to facilitateremote survivability and NAT traversal. Inthe event of a service interruption on the widearea network or if the carrier’s call agent wereto become unavailable, calls may continuelocally at the customer premises betweenIP-based or analog phones. In addition, theembedded FXO port can be used as a survivableinterface for outbound calls to the PSTN.
