ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II — AMD AM4 ATX Motherboard with Original Box

Note the "II" in the model name. The TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II is a revised version of the original TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI, with an updated wireless module. The two boards are frequently confused in listings. This is the II, confirmed by the box label, the BIOS, and system identification software, all shown in the photos.

CONDITION

Great physical condition. Heatsinks, M.2 shields, and chipset cover are clean and intact. All slots, headers, DIMM latches, and rear I/O ports are undamaged. No bent components, no corrosion, no burn marks, and no evidence of liquid exposure.

SOCKET CONDITION: AM4 is a PGA platform, meaning the pins live on the processor and the motherboard socket is a grid of contact holes. There are no pins on this board to bend. I have inspected the socket and found the contact holes clean and free of debris, the socket body uncracked, and the retention lever operating smoothly. Socket photos are included.

BIOS

The BIOS has been updated to version 3645, dated 09/10/2026, as shown in the photos. This version supports the full range of Ryzen 5000 series processors, including the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, with no further update required.

TESTING

This board has done considerably more than post and boot. It served as my test platform, running an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 128GB of DDR4 installed across all four DIMM slots, through extended graphics card and processor testing.

What that means in practice:

- All four DIMM slots populated with 32GB dual-rank modules (128GB total, the board's maximum) and detected correctly, as shown in the BIOS screenshot.

- The primary PCIe x16 slot ran high-power graphics cards under sustained full load, including an RTX 3090 drawing 420W for extended periods.

- The VRM held a 5800X3D at full sustained multi-core load with no thermal throttling recorded.

- Both M.2 slots were populated with NVMe drives and detected.

- System stability across hours of benchmarking and error testing, with no crashes, no instability, and no errors attributable to the board.

To be precise about scope: I did not run a board-specific diagnostic suite, and I did not individually test every rear USB port, audio jack, or header. What I can tell you is that this board carried a demanding, fully loaded system through extended stress work without fault.

The Wi-Fi module itself is built into the motherboard. The antenna included is the external piece that connects to the rear I/O and is required for usable wireless range.

The retail box shows normal shelf and handling wear, including a retailer price sticker on the front. Photos show its condition.

NOT INCLUDED: no CPU, no memory, no storage, no cooler, and no driver disc.

IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE YOU BUY

- DISPLAY OUTPUTS REQUIRE AN APU. The HDMI and DisplayPort ports on this board only produce video when paired with a Ryzen processor that has integrated graphics — the "G" series, such as the 5600G, 5700G, or 4600G. Standard Ryzen chips including the 5600X, 5800X, 5800X3D, and 5900X have NO integrated graphics. With those processors you MUST use a discrete graphics card, and you connect your monitor to the graphics card, not the motherboard.

- CPU COMPATIBILITY. B550 supports Ryzen 5000 series, Ryzen 5000G and 4000G APUs, and Ryzen 3000 series non-G processors. It does NOT support Ryzen 1000 or 2000 series processors, and it does not support Ryzen 3000G series APUs (the 3200G and 3400G). Please check ASUS's CPU support list for your specific processor before buying.

- PCIe 4.0 DEPENDS ON THE CPU. The primary x16 slot and the primary M.2 slot run at PCIe 4.0 with Ryzen 5000 and 3000 non-G processors. With Ryzen 5000G and 4000G APUs, they run at PCIe 3.0. This is a limitation of the APUs themselves, not the board.

- DDR4 ONLY. AM4 is a DDR4 platform. DDR5 memory is not compatible.

- 128GB NOTE: this board does support the full 128GB, as shown in the photos. Running four dual-rank 32GB modules is the most demanding memory configuration on any AM4 board, and it frequently requires relaxed timings or reduced speed compared to a two-module setup. That is a characteristic of the configuration and of AM4 memory controllers in general, not of this board.

AGE

Per the box label, this board was manufactured in January 2024, making it approximately two and a half years old. It is a recent-production unit of a mature platform. AM4 processors, DDR4 memory, and AM4-compatible coolers are all widely available and inexpensive, which makes this board a strong foundation for a budget or mid-range build, or a replacement for a failed AM4 board.

I have tested this board as described, but no bench testing can rule out every latent issue in used hardware. Please buy with that understood.
