For your consideration is this SE/30 ingreat condition. This is arare, sought after SE/30 with many rare features and many upgrades. Restored, serviced, tested and working. Recapped logic board. Socketed CPU, RAM upgraded to 20MB, hard disk upgraded to a BlueSCSI v2 with WiFi, ROM replaced by a "clean" 32 bit ROM with MacOS in ROM. Includes the keyboard and mouse. Ready to plug-in and use!

This is a rare, early SE/30, made in USA with (1) a socketed CPU (later SE/30s used soldered CPUs; the advantage of a socketed CPU is the abilty to add an accelerator in the socket thus leaving the single expansion slot available for another card) and (2) the development team's signatures embossed on the inside of the rear tub (including those of the two Steves - even though they had nothing to do with its development!; later SE/30 tubs were plain without any signatures).

The Mac SE/30 is considered to be the best compact Mac ever produced. It is also considered, by some, to be the best Mac ever produced. It is a vintage computer which is very prized by collectors. What is being offered here is a professionally restored and fully functional unit in great cosmetic condition. A rare and fantastic conversation piece that can be used as a working retro computer from 1990, a retro-gaming computer or a fully functional prop/decorative icon from over 35 years ago.

Many hours were spent on disassembly, meticulous dusting and cleaning. The floppy drive has been disassembled, cleaned and lubricated; the old troublesome eject gear has been replaced. The logic board has been cleaned and all its electrolytic capacitors have been replaced ("recapped") by much more reliable tantalum capacitors which do not leak; the logic board through-hole capacitors have also been replaced. The logic board has been ultrasonically cleaned and is in excellent cosmetic shape withno lifted traces and no bog wires.The analog board has also beenrecapped. All troublesome solder joints on the analog board have been reflowed - after many years of using the computer, these solder joints tend to crack and cause video issues.

This Mac is equipped with 20MB of RAM. The hard disk is a BlueSCSI hard disk emulator with external access to the BlueSCSI's SD card provided through the computer's expansion slot. Note that the original hard disk bracket and screws are also included - in the event you'd ever decide to revert to a spinning hard disk! The front drive access LED is connected to the BlueSCSI and works as intended. This Mac has been upgraded with a "clean" 32 bit ROM with built-in MacOS 7.0.1 which can be accessed by holding the "R" key during boot.

Cosmetically, this computer is in great condition. The case is an even color without uneven discoloration and with only very light use marks. It exhibits no major dings, no gouges, no pry marks, no cracks, no broken parts, no stickers and no sticker residue. It also has no musty smell and no cigarette smoke smell. However, (1) there is an identifier engraved on the top left side of the rear tub, and (2) two of the feet are, replacement, 3D-printed feet (the other 2 are original).

The keyboard and mouse have been cleaned. They both look, and work great!

This Mac has been extensively tested: sound, ADB port, internal floppy port, internal floppy drive (read, write, format and eject), external floppy port, internal SCSI port, internal BlueSCSI, external SCSI port, serial ports have all been tested. The clock/PRAM battery has beenremoved,but has not beenreplaced. The screen is in excellent condition: sharp, bright and stable with very minor screen burn in.

MacOS 7.0.1 is freshly installed on the BlueSCSI hard diskalong with many apps and games (not all tested and confirmed working with this model). Also included on the hard disk are disk images of MacOS 7.1 which could be used to create a set of backup OS install floppy disks.

Many SE/30s sold today, are sold as-is, in an unknown internal condition. A few are supposedly able to boot....however, if the logic board capacitors have not been replaced and the battery has not been replaced or removed, these computers will not function reliably for very long! The capacitors in these computers are over 35 years old and are well past their prime. Additionally, surface mount capacitors from the late eighties-early nineties were notoriously prone to leakage. When they leak, these capacitors' electrolyte, which is extremely corrosive, "eats" away printed circuit board traces rendering the computer unusable and difficult/costly to repair. Also, some brands of batteries in these computers had a tendency to literally explode and spill their corrosive guts all over the electronics, rendering the computer unusable and un-repairable. Unlike most SE/30s being sold, this unit has been restored, recapped andtested.It is in great cosmetic condition and functions perfectly.

This SE/30 comes with an Apple ADB keyboard,an Apple ADB mouse and a power cable - everything required to plug it in and start using it right away for a first class trip in time to the early 1990s!
