This Apple eMate was worked on a long time ago by a newton aficionado who is no longer in the hobby I believe. The hinges were swapped (to preemptively avoid the inevitable puncture of the display ribbon cable) battery was replaced with a unit of cells in a cradle. These cells are in great shape and last days, but can be replaced easily down the line. They just pop out. The eMate can even be run off of AA batteries now if it was a true…writing emergency. Comes with rare memory expansion module.
