This new 12-foot replacement cable replaces the shorter factory cable and vulnerable plastic six-pin mini-DIN plug for Klipsch’s ProMedia 2.1 first and second generation personal audio system. The internal inline plug is included—no splicing nor soldering is required.

The factory plastic plug can have internal breaks which cause connections to work intermittently. This causes the pod and system to function erratically or not at all. Gently flexing the cable by the plug may help confirm if there is a frayed internal connection.

To access the internal plug, unscrew the metal stand and slide it backwards from beneath the satellite speaker to which the pod is attached. Then slide the preamplifier pod backwards and off from beneath the pod as well. Tap on the face of the pod, if a gasket makes the pod stick in place. Remove four screws to remove the cover of the pod, then remove two inner screws to lift the circuit board out of the bottom half of the pod’s enclosure so you can access the cable’s plug. Remove the old inline plug, then plug in the new cable. Route the individual wires at the plug up and toward the front of the circuit board, then back in a gentle loop. This removes strain from the plug, and hides the individual wires inside the pod. Reassemble and reattach the pod, then the metal stand.
