No access to original account.✅ Features You Can Use (Even If Claimed):

  1. FortiGate Local Management

    • You can connect the AP to your FortiGate and manage it locally.

    • FortiGate does not check FortiCloud claim status for CAPWAP management.

    • After factory reset, it should appear under “Managed FortiAPs” on FortiGate.

  2. Basic CLI Access

    • Via console cable or SSH to default IP (192.168.1.2).

    • Useful to set static IP, controller IP, view logs.

  3. Configuration Mode Access

    • Reset the device to enter temporary config mode (SSID: FAP-config-xxxx).

    • Access web GUI at https://192.168.100.1 to set controller info.

    • GUI limited to controller setup, not full Wi-Fi config.

  4. Firmware Push via FortiGate

    • FortiGate will auto-update firmware when AP is adopted.

    • No need to download firmware manually.

  5. AP Diagnostics via CLI

    • Commands like diag, cw_diag allow radio/channel checks, ping tests.

❌ Features You Cannot Use Without Reclaiming:

  1. FortiCloud Management

    • You cannot add the AP to your FortiCloud account until previous claim is removed.

    • Device will be rejected on FortiCloud with “already claimed” error.

  2. Web GUI for SSID or Wi-Fi Settings

    • No standalone SSID setup or wireless config via GUI – this AP is not autonomous.

    • GUI is only for linking to a controller.

  3. Standalone Wi-Fi Operation

    • Cannot function as an independent AP (no SSID broadcast without controller).

    • Always requires FortiGate or FortiCloud to push Wi-Fi settings.

  4. Support Portal Registration

    • Cannot register the device to your Fortinet account for warranty or support.

    • Blocks access to support tickets and firmware downloads from portal.

  5. Firmware Manual Downloads

    • Cannot download firmware directly from Fortinet site unless the AP is registered to your account.

    • You must rely on FortiGate to push updates.

  6. Advanced FortiCloud Features
