COMMODORE 1571 DISK DRIVE — EXCEPTIONALLY LOW SERIAL NUMBER JAI 000341 — TESTED & WORKING
Offered here is an unusually interesting Commodore 1571 disk drive with the remarkably low serial number:
JAI 000341
This is not an ordinary later-production 1571 with a serial number in the tens of thousands. The factory identification label on this drive shows JAI 000341, making it a particularly early-numbered example within the JAI serial sequence and an interesting piece for the serious Commodore collector.
I am not claiming that this was the 341st Commodore 1571 manufactured worldwide, since Commodore produced hardware through different factories and serial-number sequences. What can be stated with certainty is that this drive carries the extremely low factory serial JAI 000341, exactly as shown in the photographs.
The drive has been actually tested using floppy disks and is working great. It powers up properly and successfully reads disks. This gives the buyer the unusual combination of a very low-serial-number collectible and a functioning vintage Commodore drive.

Cosmetic condition is shown clearly in the photographs. There is normal age-related discoloration/patina consistent with original Commodore equipment of this era. I have deliberately not attempted to cosmetically restore or alter it.
For the Commodore 128/C64 collector looking for something beyond another ordinary 1571, the serial number is what makes this example especially interesting. Finding a JAI-numbered 1571 in the first few hundred of its sequence is not something that turns up every day.
