This listing is for a drum unit — it is NOT a toner cartridge and does not contain any toner powder. The drum unit is the imaging component that transfers toner onto the paper; the toner cartridge supplies the toner itself. They are two separate consumables that wear out independently.This drum must be installed and used together with your existing toner cartridge. For this Brother series, the matching toner cartridge is the TN330 (standard yield) or TN360 (high yield), which is not included in this listing. You simply slide your toner cartridge into the new drum unit, then install the whole assembly into the printer. If your print quality is fading and your toner cartridge still has toner left, replacing the drum alone restores print quality without wasting remaining toner.Designed as a long-life imaging component, a single drum unit lasts through multiple toner cartridge replacements — you replace the drum far less often than the toner. Actual drum life varies with your print habits (coverage, paper type, continuous vs. single-page jobs).This drum unit is equipped with a new chip for reliable recognition by your printer. • Open the front cover of the printer and pull out the old drum unit and toner cartridge together as one assembly.
• Press the release lever on the drum unit to separate the toner cartridge from the old drum. Keep the toner cartridge — you will reuse it.
• Unpack the new drum unit and remove all protective covering and tape.
• Slide your toner cartridge (TN330 / TN360) into the new drum unit until it clicks into place.
• Hold the drum by its frame only — do not touch the green drum surface, and avoid exposing it to direct light for extended periods.
• Slide the whole assembly (drum + toner cartridge) back into the printer until it clicks, then close the front cover.
• Then reset the drum counter — see the notice below. Without this step the printer may keep displaying "Replace Drum" even though a new drum is installed.🔧 Chip / Drum Counter Reset Notice:
• This drum unit is equipped with a new chip for reliable recognition, so your printer can identify the drum properly.
• Upon installation, your printer may display a "Non-Brother" or similar message. This is completely normal for a compatible drum unit — simply press OK / Continue / Accept to proceed and start printing.
• After installation, if the printer displays "Replace Drum" or "Drum Life End", reset the drum counter from your printer's control panel or menu (for example, by opening the front cover and pressing Clear/Back or OK until the prompt clears, or through the printer menu such as General Setup → Reset Drum Counter), depending on your model.
• If the drum is not recognized, remove the assembly and reinstall it firmly until it clicks. Do not touch the chip contacts.
• To avoid recognition issues caused by printer firmware updates, we recommend turning OFF automatic firmware updates on your printer.
