DigitalPersona USB Fingerprint Reader Scanner U.ARE.U 5160 Used w/ Box**Tested and working as of 1/6/25**

The device was auto recognized by my Windows 10 PC as "Civil PIV Scanner". Windows 10 auto installed the generic drivers and I also installed the official drivers from the official website. I was unable to get the device to work for windows biometric login, but I was able to test the device using the SDK tools from the website. This makes sense due to this being an older model. This is an older model and there will be limited compatibility. That being said, it should work for older software or if you are a developer you can write your own solution.Software used for testing:

Free Fingerprint Verification SDK
Free Fingerprint Verification software development kit is a freeware SDK intended for adding fingerprint verification functionality into various applications. The SDK is most suitable for developing biometric logon applications, but it can be used also for any other application that do not require to store more than 10 fingerprints.
Free Fingerprint Verifications SDK supports Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11 operating systems. The SDK does not require any registration or internet connection for using it.I havent tested all of the software on the website so there may be other software that works with it.

DigitalPersona's U.are.U 5100 family of fingerprint scanners includes U.are.U 5100 Reader and U.are.U 5160 Reader for end users, and U.are.U 5100 Module for integration into various embedded and mobile devices. The devices are FIPS 201 (PIV) certified, are able to reject latent or spoof fingerprints and have low power consumption via USB port. The U.are.U 5160 Reader includes two status LEDs.

The U.are.U 5100 Reader and U.are.U 5160 Reader feature full IP64-rated ruggedized casing. The U.are.U 5100 Module's top surface is IP64 rated, making it suitable for integration into devices that designed to be sealed against dust and liquids.
