Up for sale is a EVGA RTX 2080 Super Black Gaming (P/N
08G-P4-3081-KR, PCB code EVGA196, S/N in photos) — complete card
with its original dual-fan cooler, and screws. It has
a dead GPU core, and I know that because I diagnosed it myself on
my bench. Here's the honest story: WHAT HAPPENED
The card read errors on every memory bank in
MATS (Photo attatched). A week
later it wouldn't POST at all. I traced it down: the core's
power rail (NVVDD) is shorted to ground inside the GPU die
itself — reads ~0 ohms, and when I feed the rail
low current from a bench supply, it's the die that warms up, not
any MOSFET or cap. Leads me to believe it's a dead core, not a board-level repair.
As far as I can tell the memory controller is gone with it,
but the memory chips and power circuitry came through fine. WHAT I BELIEVE IS GOOD (measured 2026-09-20, numbers not guesses)
- All 8 memory chips (Samsung K4Z80325BC-HC16 GDDR6): diode-
tested individually, 23.9-24.4 ohms, uniform within +/-2%.
Seems there is no weak chip in the set.
- Slot rails: 3V3 and 3V3aux normal; 12V input stage fine
- Both fans spin (tested before teardown); fins and pads shown
in photos
