Fellowes 3.5" Floppy Disk Storage Case with Disk Lot----Vintage Computing 1990s style----BUY-IT-NOW: One Fellowes 3.5" floppy disk storage case filled with assorted disks. The case is of the old-style plastic lidded units, where the top is transparent but is tinted, "smoke" colored. The file box is very cool--totally retro back to the days of cassette tapes and Atari cartridges and stuff.
The file box smoke-colored top has a crack at the left hinge where it connects to the base, but it doesn't look to be in danger of breaking under normal use. In fact, this kind of crack was something I had on the cover for my record player when I was younger--probably from being too rough with it, but it never broke all the way.
This file box and discs are recent discards from a medical office. Looks like they were stored away for quite some time, and a few months ago were found and tossed out.
The discs inside the box are a mix of prerecorded ones with commercially-prepared program files as well as "blanks" which had data files recorded onto them. A few of them say on the labels, handwritten, that they're backups made in early to mid 1996. Wow. Was that 30 years ago already? Where has the time gone??!! I remember what was going down in my life at that time--and it feels like ancient history now.
There are some medical practice program discs, as well as a few printer ones, QuickBooks, and maybe some others which were prerecorded. Altogether, there are about 30 discs included. None of these have been tested. They should be considered to be included with the file box as an "extra" with no guarantees of operability.
This is a nice, cool vintage bit of computer history. Imagine--we've gotten so far in 30 years! However, these things are worth saving, maybe even trying to use them again. I hope that someone will want to buy them :-}
I'll send the file and discs in a cardboard box with padding inside to keep them safe in transit. Because the discs are data storage devices, I can ship them via USPS "Media Mail" to US addresses.
