This drive is being sold FOR PARTS OR REPAIR / AS-IS due to a confirmed error condition.

The drive was installed in a Dell PowerVault TL4000 tape library alongside another identical LTO-7 drive. During testing, this drive was recognized by the library and would initially come online, but subsequently reported an Error status.

To rule out an issue with the TL4000 drive bay, connections, or library itself, the two drives were physically swapped between drive positions. The error followed this specific drive, while the other LTO-7 drive operated normally in the same position. Based on this testing, the fault appears to be with this drive rather than the library.

No tape cartridge was used, and no read/write testing was performed. The exact internal fault has not been diagnosed. It may be repairable, but no guarantees are made regarding repairability or functionality.

Physical condition is good overall. One of the metal retaining/spring clips on the bottom of the assembly is bent, as clearly shown in the photos. Otherwise, no physical damage was observed. See photos

Includes the complete drive assembly/sled pictured, including the SAS interface, cooling fan, handle, and associated electronics.

This is a defective item and is being sold specifically for parts or repair. Please review all photos carefully.

The drive will be packed extremely well, with substantial cushioning and protection appropriate for a heavy and sensitive tape drive assembly.
