I am selling a used Lenovo T480 i5-8350U laptop with 16 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and an Intel AX210 WiFi card that I replaced the old WiFi card with. A 65W charger is included with the laptop. Refer to the pictures listed for the overall condition of the laptop.
Comes installed with Linux Mint, but I can install Qubes OS or a popular Linux distro of your choice, if desired. You can also always choose to install your preferred operating system after receiving the laptop.
It is flashed with the latest version of Libreboot, a free and open source boot firmware. It is mainly compatible with Linux operating systems. This replaces the original Lenovo proprietary BIOS, which effectively disables the Intel Management Engine, an embedded microcontroller inside the Intel chipset that functions independent of the power state of the laptop. This minimizes the risk of remote access vulnerabilities.
It is a privacy-friendly laptop, perfect for Linux enthusiasts, beginner or casual users wanting a laptop free of a Windows bloated/proprietary environment, students, government workers, researchers, lawyers, and anyone that wants to be in control of their laptop.
Note: Windows 10 and 11 is not officially supported by Libreboot, but you should be able to install those operating systems. I have not tested this personally, so proceed at your own risk. If you really need to use Windows on this type of laptop however, it is recommended to boot one via Virtual Machine.
If requested, I will provide the original Lenovo BIOS image file that was read from the BIOS chip during the flashing process after purchase when the payment is fully processed.
**This laptop will be shipped with USPS Ground Advantage and insured. Signature required upon delivery of the package.**
