This special riser provides an open-ended x8 slot that is electrically x4 -- so you canseat a full x16 card in it, but it'll only draw 4 lanes. The other 4 lanes are split off for an extra m.2 slot.
I have used these risers successfully with Intel i350 quad-port NICs and with the AMD RX 6400 GPU (which only requires 4 lanes anyway.)
