READ THIS FIRST
SMART reads 12 and 14 power-on hours on these two drives. That is the number you will see when you plug them in.
Almost all of it is mine. I ran a full 4TB zero-fill over both as a combined sanitization and burn-in test, and that pass takes about 7 hours per drive. Before I wiped them the counters read 1 hour and 0 hours respectively, and 0 bytes written on both.
THE START-STOP COUNT - READ THIS TOO
These drives show 143 and 133 start-stop cycles against almost no runtime. That combination is unusual and you would notice it, so here it is up front: it looks like factory burn-in or test-rack cycling, spun up and down repeatedly without accumulating hours. It is not damage, both drives have zero grown defects and zero uncorrected errors, and nothing in the logs shows a fault. But it is a real number on the drive and I am not going to let you discover it after delivery.
This is a SAS drive, not SATA. It will NOT plug into a normal desktop motherboard. You need a SAS HBA or RAID controller.

Both: SMART health OK, 7200 rpm, 6.0 Gb/s SAS, firmware 0003, 512 logical / 512 physical sectors, 0 read / 0 write / 0 verify uncorrected errors, 4 TB lifetime writes (my wipe pass) and 0 TB lifetime reads.
A NOTE ON THE SERIAL NUMBERS
Seagate SAS drives report a 20-character serial to smartctl but print the first 8 on the label. The full strings are Z1Z1CFW90000C401DLFC and Z1Z148R200009348XNEM. If you match the label against SMART output, that is why they look different.
ABOUT THE ENCRYPTION FLAG
These are SED-capable drives. Encryption is NOT enabled and the drives are NOT locked - they are ordinary unlocked drives and need no password.
HONEST ASSESSMENT
Good for: a pool, a rebuild, or cold spares where you want essentially unused enterprise capacity without paying new prices.
Not good for: a desktop without a SAS controller. Also note this is the 6 Gb/s ES.3 generation, not a 12 Gb/s drive.
DATA SANITIZATION
Both drives received a full-length zero overwrite across the entire LBA range, followed by a verification read and a post-wipe SMART re-read compared against the pre-wipe capture. Defect and error counts were unchanged by the wipe. NIST 800-88 Clear. The drives arrive as raw zeroed disks with no partition table.
WHAT YOU GET
Two (2) bare 3.5 inch SAS hard drives, serials as listed above. No caddies, no trays, no screws, no cables, no adapters, no mounting hardware. Bare drives only.
