For sale is my vintage Apple Macintosh PowerBook 180c.
Considering its age, this PowerBook has held up remarkably well. Cosmetically and functionally, the system is in very good overall condition, with two important exceptions:
- The internal hard drive has been removed.
- The LCD panel needs repair or replacement.
The LCD backlight works, and the Finder can sometimes be seen as a faint or ghost-like image on the screen, but the display is not presently usable for normal operation. LCD repair/replacement for these machines is well documented in the vintage Macintosh community.
The original internal SCSI hard drive was removed years ago. This makes the machine a good candidate for a modern solid-state replacement such as a BlueSCSI.
Mechanically, the PowerBook is also in unusually nice condition. The rotating feet on the bottom still work properly and support the computer without issue. The inside of the machine is quite clean as well. I have included a photo of the exposed mainboard/base so you can see its internal condition and the absence of obvious capacitor leakage.
Battery Note
The included batteries do not hold a charge and should be considered non-working. They are approximately 30+ years old, so this is expected.
I am including them because the original battery shells may be useful to a collector or hobbyist interested in creating a modern homebrew battery pack using current cells.
There are also three original battery compartment cover doors: one installed on the PowerBook and two attached to the included batteries.

The internal FDHD floppy drive works properly.
I am also including an original Apple System 7.5 "Disk Tools" bootable floppy disk, which I have tested with the 33 MHz Motorola 68030

Condition Summary
This is a beautiful and unusually well-preserved example of an Apple PowerBook 180c, but it is being sold as a vintage restoration/collector system because of the LCD issue and missing internal hard drive.
The computer powers on, the backlight operates, the floppy drive works, and the system can boot from the included Disk Tools floppy. Please review all photos carefully for exact cosmetic condition and included accessories.
A great candidate for a BlueSCSI upgrade, LCD restoration, vintage Macintosh collection, museum-style display, or period-correct computing project.
