Vintage 9-Track Computer Tape Reel Lot – NAS Pensacola – Scotch, Ampex, RCA & Graham Magnetics
This is a rare collection of seven (7) vintage 9-track computer tape reels recovered from a long-stored military/industrial inventory in the Pensacola, Florida area. Several reels retain original NAS Pensacola inventory identification labels, adding unique historical interest and provenance.
The lot includes a variety of period computer tape manufacturers including:
- Scotch
- Ampex (including an Ampex 838 reel)
- RCA
- Graham Magnetics
These tapes were used in the era of large mainframe computers and data storage systems. Several reels retain original operation/data labels, inventory markings, and other period identification tags. Some tapes have printed edge numbers, and some may contain repair or splice markers consistent with their original use.

- Untested – no attempt has been made to read or recover data
- Reels show expected age, storage dust, surface wear, label residue, and cosmetic imperfections
- Some labels are damaged, partially missing, or have been removed over time
- Tape packs generally appear intact, but the condition of the magnetic media is unknown
