New USB 3.0 External LG WH14NS40 14X Blu-ray drive flashed to 1.02 firmware.
This USB 3.0 External Blu-ray drive, which currently ships from LG with non-UHD compatible 1.04 firmware, has been flashed by myself to an older version of the LG firmware (1.02) which allows the drive to read UHD/ 4K Blu-ray discs. Each flashed 1.02drive has then been tested to work with both standard Blu-ray and UHD / 4K Blu-ray discs prior to shipping.Do not update the firmware on the drive, as you will return it to a non-UHDfriendlystate.
This drive is flashed with proper WH14NS40 1.02 firmware, whereas other sellers are flashing firmware from WH16NS40 drives, which may not be compatible in all situations. See image 6 for reference.

The drive is installed in a silver external aluminum enclosure manufacturedby OWC. All original packaging, documents, and power / data cables are included. The enclosure is rated USB 3.0 and comes with an included cable that can be attached to any standardUSB (Type A) port on a desktop PC, laptop PC, or Macintosh. It has the typical wall wart power supply for power. You may need to purchase a USB Type B 3.0 to USB Type C cable separately if your laptop does not have a standard USB Type A port. This external drive will allow you to read 4K / UHD Blu-ray discs- but ONLY if you have the rest of the necessary hardware and software.There are other hardware and software requirements for playing/accessing/backing up UHD / 4K / Blu-ray discs.Windows 10 will not access or play 4K / UHD / Blu-ray discs without installing additional software.
