Extremely Rare - New Old Stock, Unopened Cyrix Cx486DRx2-16/32GP CPU Upgrade Kit.
This is a rare, factory-sealed, unopened Cyrix Microprocessor Upgrade kit for the Cx486DRx²-16/32GP. The original white Cyrix retail box is intact with its shrink-wrap still on, and the display window shows the gold chip face marked Cyrix 486 Cx486DRx²16/32GP AD1325A.
The Cx486DRx² is a "clock-doubled" 386-to-486 upgrade processor — a 386DX core with the 486 instruction set, 1 KB of on-chip L1 cache, and integrated cache-coherency circuitry — designed to drop into an existing 386DX PGA132 socket and effectively double performance (16 MHz → 32 MHz internal). These upgrade kits arrived in 1994, just as the Pentium was displacing the 486, so they sold in modest numbers. Complete, boxed examples are uncommon today, and sealed ones like this are rarer still.
The box spine carries an original IBM part-number label (IBM PART NO. 64G3973, barcode P64G3973).
Condition: New old stock, factory sealed. Box is in good shape with minor shelf/edge wear consistent with age (see photos). Because the kit has never been opened, exact contents cannot be confirmed, but these retail kits typically included the CPU, installation/extraction tool, driver diskette, and documentation.
