These are some of the first IC’s ever made…designed by Fairchild in the early 60’s.RTL was one of the first integrated logic families, followed by DTL and TTL.(Resistor-Transistor Logic, then Diode-Transistor Logic, then Transistor-Transistor Logic.)
These are flip-flops, fundamental building blocks of digital electronics systems.They were usedin computers, communications, and other electronic systems.
These were built byFairchild, inventor of thePlanar Process by which all IC’s arenow produced.Notice the leads are gold plated - early IC's were expensive andgold was affordable.These parts arehistoric and collectible.
Notice the words in the datasheet description "...is guaranteed tooperateatafrequencyof 2.0 MHz". (Current CPU's operate at frequencies of 2-4 GHz!).
