This is a CBASIC Compiler Language Reference Manual published by Digital Research, Inc. It is a piece of early computing history from the era of the CP/M operating system, which was the industry standard before MS-DOS took over.
CBASIC was a popular version of the BASIC programming language. Unlike the "interpreted" BASIC found on most home computers (which ran code line-by-line), this was a compiler. It turned code into a more efficient format that ran faster and was harder for others to copy.
Digital Research was founded by Gary Kildall, a legendary figure in tech history. They were the primary rivals to Microsoft in the early PC software market.
This premium vintage documentation set includes:* CBASIC Compiler (CB86) Language Programming Guide* CBASIC Compiler Language Reference Manual* CBASIC Compiler Language Graphics Guide* Original Digital Research corporate gray textured slipcase* Original matching heavy-duty 3-ring system binder
Condition Notes:The set is in exceptional vintage shape for being over 40 years old! The outer slipcase is structurally rigid with sharp corners and no heavy crushing or seam splits. The internal binder opens smoothly with clean rings. The manual covers are bright, and the three-hole-punched interior pages are crisp, white, completely free of highlighting or ink notes, and tightly preserved. An absolute must-have piece for a vintage computing collection, tech archivist shelf, or retro PC enthusiast room!
Note, this is for the manuals only; there are no discs included.
