Up for sale is a vintage 2003 Samsung SyncMaster 213T 21.3" 4:3 LCD computer monitor in excellent working condition. This monitor has been carefully maintained, tested, and remains fully functional, including both VGA and DVI inputs, all front-panel controls, and its original CCFL backlighting. It will include a power cable, VGA cable, and DVI cable, so it is ready to connect and use. Please read the full description below for details.

  SERVICE & MAINTENANCE

  This monitor has been carefully maintained and tested.

  • Inverter board has been recapped

  • Power-board capacitors were measured and found to remain within specification

  • Original CCFL backlighting remains installed and fully operational

  • VGA input tested and confirmed working

  • DVI input tested and confirmed working

  • All front-panel control buttons tested and confirmed working

  • Display has zero dead pixels

  The original CCFL backlighting is still functioning properly. Occasionally when first powered on, the display can appear somewhat darker until the backlight warms up. This does not happen every time, and once warmed up, the display operates normally.

  For those with the appropriate technical skills, replacement CCFL tubes and LED backlight conversion kits are available online should someone ever wish to restore or modify the backlighting.

  COSMETIC CONDITION

  The exterior appearance is consistent with the monitor's age and years of use and is clearly shown throughout the photos.

  The display panel itself has several minor cosmetic blemishes, which are also pictured. There are a few small scratches near the top of the display, toward the center just below the upper bezel. There is also one small white mark/dot on the display. This is not a dead pixel; at some point during moving or storage, something appears to have come into contact with the screen and left this mark.

  I have photographed these imperfections clearly and outlined the affected areas in red in one of the photos for full disclosure.

  Aside from the white mark, the scratches and other blemishes are not particularly noticeable during normal use when the monitor is displaying an image. The display has zero dead pixels and otherwise functions properly.

  Please review all photos carefully, including the close-up images and the photo with the affected areas outlined, as they are considered part of the description and accurately represent the monitor's cosmetic condition.

  STAND & MOUNTING

  The original Samsung stand is not included.

  The monitor is fully VESA 100 × 100mm compatible, allowing it to be used with a wide variety of monitor arms, stands, and wall-mounting solutions.

  The appropriate screws for attaching a VESA mounting bracket are included.

  A LITTLE HISTORY BEHIND THIS MONITOR

  This monitor has been in my family since it was purchased brand new from COMP USA in late 2003 for approximately $1,300 before tax. My father was the original purchaser, and I was with him when he bought it. I still remember him discussing with the retail associate how new and cutting-edge this type of large LCD display was compared with the CRT monitors that were standard at the time.

  He used the SyncMaster 213T as his primary monitor for many years before it eventually came into my possession. I have since continued to use it periodically as a secondary display, partly for its sentimental value and partly because I genuinely enjoy its warm color characteristics and comfortable viewing experience, particularly at night.

  Today, the 213T's true 4:3 aspect ratio, original CCFL technology, VGA/DVI connectivity, classic early-2000s styling, and substantial construction make it an interesting choice for vintage-computing enthusiasts looking for a period-appropriate display. In my opinion, it is also a nice representation of the transition from CRT to LCD technology that was taking place during this era.
