▣ TWO SPECS BUYERS OFTEN GET WRONG ON THIS MODEL
This is a SATA II (3 Gb/s) drive, not SATA III. It plugs into and works in any modern SATA port — it simply negotiates at 3 Gb/s. A mechanical drive of this class cannot come close to saturating even that, so there is no practical performance loss.
This is not a 7200 RPM drive. WD Caviar Green uses "IntelliPower," a variable spindle speed in roughly the 5400 RPM class. Many listings for this model incorrectly advertise 7200 RPM. It is a quiet, cool, low-power drive — well suited to bulk storage, media libraries, backup targets and legacy systems, and not intended as a high-performance boot drive.
