YouTube - With the h264ify browser extension, it can handle videos up to 720p 30 FPS with mild hitching. Don't bother with 60 FPS videos. Local Storage - It can handle 1080p 30 FPS videos that uses the H.264 codec. H.265 (HEVC) video playback crashes and burns due to the laptop's weak hardware. Gaming–Red Faction runs at a barely playable frame rate at 480p at its lowest settings. Obviously, the onboard GPU is garbage beyond office work, web browsing, and playing standard-definition videos. - This laptop was equipped with an AMD Turion dual-core CPU that ran at 2 GHz. While it was (unofficially) compatible with it, I have chosen to downgrade it to the AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-42 to reduce both power consumption and heat output.
- Blu-ray playback on PC without resorting to ripping the disc with MakeMKV or purchasing a license for a video player with Blu-ray support is somewhat difficult due to the AACS (Advanced Access Content System) encryption nonsense that format uses. Several libraries and a key database are needed for video players such as VLC, which omit those files for legal purposes, to playback those discs. For your convenience, those files have been installed by yours truly and VLC has been set to skip the interactive menus due to compatibility problems with newer versions of Java (it’s used for making the fancy interactive menus on that format).
