Vintage Randall Style Model #3 Hunter Sheath Knife
Price: US $177.50
This is not a Randall Knife but a very good copy made in the 1960s by the Ozekes Brothers Cutlery Shop in Sinop Turkey and bought by a soldier in the ASA Army Security Agency if you don't know what military agency that is IDIDN'T look it up it is very interesting. They were some of thefirst advisors sent into Vietnam in the early sixties.Early on thisagency wasattached toMac V SOG and Special Forces units and later to Army infantry and Calvary units. This agency was present in Vietnam from the early sixites up until 1975. This unit sufferedone of thefirstcombat related casualties in Vietnam. Their training base was in Sinop Turkey and in town was the Ozekes Brothers Cutlery Shop which is still in business today. From the informationI got when I boughtthis and another Randall style knife and what I'vegotten off theinternet the soldiersbrought catalogs in from other makers and using their dimensions they would copy these knives. This knife could have very easily been copiedfrom another soldier's knife. Possibly a SpecialForces soldierorpilot who bothwere known to carry Randall's andworked along side the soldiers inthis unit. Believe me this knife is dead on. I've seen copies of Randall knives by some of the top makers in the States and these are probably the closest I've ever seen or held. Not only that the work and materials are top grade andthe grind lines are fantastic. The only two complaintsI have are the non Randall sheath you see in thepicturesis the original sheath and not that well made and they used aluminum spacers instead ofplastic. The original sheath and the Cutlery stamphelp date the knife because the Ozekessheath and stamp changedby the early seventies. They started lacing the sheaths and started stampingOzekes on the blade along with the Turkish star and cresent moon.I have seena Randallmodel #2 style on sell recently and when I bought this one I also bought a Model #12 Big Bear Bowie Style with all the extras. The quality of this knife is alsotop notch. The 1980sRandall sheath in the pictureI'm going to let go with the knife. The knife fits it perfectly. The Randallsheathhas somedamage something has beenchewing on itother than that the sheath is sturdy and appears to have hardly been used. It is missing the stone. The knife is in good shape alsohardly used the discoloration on the blade was from sitting in the sheath for so many years. The blade and brass furniturewould clean up nicely if thats what you decide.Blade is 6" long the knife is 10 1/2" overall.
