This is an \"active repeater\" cable which is a specialtype of cable that buffers power over the distance of the cable.Standard passive extension cables- the kind you may find on for afew bucks, do not buffer the power signal and lose power over the cablelength. This means they cannot offer enough power for high consumptiondevices, such as Alfa\'s line of long range Wi-Fi USB networkingadapters including AWUS036NH, AWUS036NHA, and AWUS036NHR. This also hasspecial shielding to insulate against power loss- you will notice outof the package it is quite a bit thicker than standard USB cables.

This cable allows you to place your long range W-Fi adapter(or any USB device for that matter) up to 16 feet away from thecomputer. If your computer is located away from a window, use thiscable to put your Wi-Fi adapter closer to the window for improvedreception.- USB type Amale to female
