AlfaAPA-M25 is a new dual band 2.4/5 GHz high gain directional indoor panelantenna with RP-SMA connector (compare to Asus WL-ANT-157). It can beused with any dual band Wi-Fi receiver or router/AP that has an RP-SMAport. It is compatible with the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi equipment,including the AWUS036AC model from Alfa. This antenna works with boththe 2.4 and the 5 Ghz Wi-Fi band.

Directional vs. Omni directionalantennas:The aboveimage is not a precise scientific comparison drawing, but anillustration to show in a general sense how the two antenna typescompare. Omni-directional antennas can detect signals from multipledirections because gain in concentrated in a 360 degree horizontalpattern. They work best when you are mobile and do not knowwhere signals are originating. Directional antennas concentrate gain ina particular direction. Asour graphic above illustrates, each antenna type has an advantage overthe other. That is why it is best to have each type, so you can use theantenna that is best for your particular needs. Because directionalantennas work best in the direction they are pointed, in many cases youwill detect more signals overall with your omni-directional antenna,but find that your directional antenna may get stronger signal strengthto signals at which it is aimed. Directional antennas help reducenoise/interference because they are not picking up signals strong fromother directions..
