In some organizations, IP telephones alone are not enough. Common areas indoors and out may require voice paging, loud ringing, and visual alerting and may also have the need to secure an entrance with an intercom or video intercom. To meet this need, more and more businesses utilize a combination of Algo SIP devices including the Algo 8201; a Voice over IP Wideband PoE indoor / outdoor SIP intercom for notification of visitors at a door, in an office or classroom, and supports two-way communication that is interoperable with almost any IP-PBX system, ITSP, or hosted Communication Server that can utilize 3rd party SIP endpoints. If your phone system supports SIP IP telephones like Polycom, Cisco, snom, Yealink, and most any other, then it will support the Algo 8201.

The Algo 8201 SIP intercom is configured as a third party SIP endpoint compatible with leading premise or hosted UC providers including Avaya, Broadsoft, Cisco, Digium Asterisk, Metaswitch, Mitel, and more. The Algo 8201 registers with the voice system as an extension, so you know which door has a visitor, what location needs assistance, or to call the intercom's extension to make an announcement / speak to someone at a facility door/office/room, even if the intercom is installed in a different building, city, or even in another country. Built-in support for multicast can also reduce the need for additional phone system SIP licenses or SIP ports if required by your phone system. The Algo 8201 can be configured to receive multicast audio and paging similar to the Algo 8128, 8180G2, 8180, 8186, 8188, 8189, 8201, 8301, 8373, which translates to a cost effective solution providing scalablity while providing multiple methods of notification and communication. Using the optional Algo 8301 with SIP calendar scheduling, it is possible to automate class bells, shift change, spoken advertisements, other regular announcements, or to stream music through the Algo 8201 PoE-powered intercom speaker. Music streaming is available via the Algo 8301 input multicast audio port.

The Algo 8201 SIP Intercom also has a relay for connection to a door entry system (30V 50mA max) to support remote unlock of a lobby door or can be paired to the Algo 8061 for enhanced security.

Wideband HD Audio capability is helpful in meeting OSHA requirements as well as the NEMA SB-40 2010 standard for emergency communication in education. Wideband HD Audio is simply easier to understand announcements and messages; intelligibility is a key benefit to Wideband audio because audio is cleaner, more intelligible, and has expanded audio range surpassing non-HD Voice and old style phone and paging systems.

The Algo 8201 can be surface or flush mounted, fitting in a standard double gang electrical box. The Algo 8201 can be used as easily indoors as out. The device features an outdoor-rated enclosure, includes a stainless steel faceplate (brass is available for purchase as a separate item, not included), conformal coated electronics, and tactile backlit call button for complete weather protection and long life in any climate.

Like all Algo SIP products, the Algo 8201 SIP Intercom can also be easily managed using an intuitive web interface or supports auto-provisioning for minimal touch configuration. The Algo 8201 is ideal for most any voice over IP installation where an intercom or doorphone is required.

NOTE: This device requires Power over Ethernet. If PoE is not available, you will need to utilize a PoE Injector. This unit does not support direct power connection - PoE Only. A basic understanding of computer networking and Voice over IP experience is recommended. A secondary relay may be required for some door controllers. Ask for a wiring diagram for installations with a door controller requiring greater than 30 volts at 50mA.
