Hi! Thanks for taking the time to look at a RDKL, Inc. listing! I have great response because my customers are happy with my customer service and detailed product descriptions.

Apple Macintosh SE/30 Vintage Portrait Display Video Card Lapis Model 10006

This very unique and rare item is a Lapis video card for the Macintosh SE/30 (may work with some SE models, not sure). From what I can tell it's for the portrait display, and it has a 9-pin connector. It mounts inside the SE/30 bus slot, and as shown comes with a cable, bracket, screws, and connector that mount to the outside-facing slot of your SE/30.

I do not have a portrait display, but I have an RGBtoHDMI device which allowed me to test the card. As shown, the SE/30 screen is blank, while the external display is visible. I obviously do not have the right settings, so it's not shown as it would with a portrait display, but you can see the desktop and that it is in fact working.

I believe the way this works is the external display is the main display, and then the SE/30 screen serves as extended screen space. When I moved the cursor to the edges I could not get it to appear on the SE/30 screen, however I have read that you need to install a driver on the SE/30 in order to configure these kinds of options (which screen is primary, etc.) This driver is available on the web and I can help you find it if necessary.

As you can see, when I hook up to a normal vintage monitor, I get a garbled display, I assume because a normal monitor does not have portrait display resolutions. I got the garbled result both on a Commodore 1902 monitor and an old IBM CGA monitor. But the RGBtoHDMI was able to show the full screen (although incorrectly due to bad settings).

Included is the card as shown, and cable/bracket/screws/connector. SE/30, RGBtoHDMI, monitor, and other items are NOT included. Card is obviously used but in good condition, and working.

Thanks, and please let me know if you have questions! This is a very unique and rare item.
