Here we have this very rare account of the Casualties of the Crimean War 1854 - 1856. These records have been compiled from London Gazettes of the period.

Typical information will include; Surname, Christian Name, Regimental Number, Date of Death or Injury, Theatre of War where Death or Injury occured, level of Injury i.e Slight, Severe, Fatal

In some cases the exact wound is mentioned & occasionally a reference to the soldiers Father, Mother or Wife is listed.

Mistakes were known to have existed in the original source material, which is true of many early documents & reference works. We have carefully extracted the information available and as such cannot be held responsible for errors originatingfrom the original material.

We are asked on numerous occasions if someone can find out if their ancestor served at Balaclava, the infamous \"Charge of the Light Brigade\" on 25th October 1854

As far as we know, no definative list was ever produced for Balaclava, you may be able to find out if your ancestor served in the Crimea through consulting various WO catalogues held at Kew in London, consulting Muster Rolls & pay lists giving enlistment dates etc.

This however can involve quite complex searching of records & would mean a visit to London, unless you use a paid reseacher.

What we have here is a list of 1000\'s of men who were either Killed in Action, Died of Disease or wounded, seriously or slightly in all the Crimean Campaigns. So if your ancestor died in battle or received a wound etc at Balaclava or any other Crimean Theatre of war you should hopefully find them here.
