CAT7 is thenewest cable standard for Ethernet and other interconnect technologies. It has strict specifications on cross talkand EMI protection and features four individually shielded pairs as well as anoverall cable shield to protect the signals.It provides a copper solution for 10 Gigabit Ethernet at 325ft (100meters) but laboratory testing has shown to transmit up to 40Gb at 165ft (50meters) and 100Gb at 50ft (15 meters).

The abilityto support higher frequencies allows CAT7 Ethernet cable to carry more data and supportfrequencies of up to 600Mhz. This cableoffers extensive shielding to reduce signal attenuation and is relatively stiffin comparison to previous generations of cabling. This shielding needs to be grounded andrequires special RJ-45 Grounded connectors.
