This NIC module can be installed onto network appliances to expand the network connectivity to 4 x 10G network capability:

• The NCS2-IXM407 10 GbE NIC module provides four SFP+ connectors which can connect 10G SFP+ fiber Gigabit Ethernet. This NIC module offers the expansion of 4 SFP+ 10GbE LAN ports (using Intel XL710) to work with fiber cabling, theoretical maximum of 40 Gbps bi-directional throughput (20 Gbps in; 20 Gbps out).
• The Intel® XL710 Ethernet Controller series aims to extend virtualization capabilities and travels in PCIe Gen 3.0 x 8 connector for optimized hardware acceleration.
• This module also comes with PCI Express Gen 3 x8 golden fingers. It can be inserted into PCIe 3.0 x8 NIC module slot of network appliances but is also backward compatible with PCIe Gen 2.1. The maximum interface transfer rate of PCIe Gen 3 can reach up to 8 GT/s bit rate.
